AAA Girls 400m Preview
This one is going to get interesting. The AAA 400 meters is packed with talent up front and the fast section is going to be one event you can't miss out on at Shippensburg.
The top seed is Neshaminy's Sanaa Hebron, who clocked a 55.83 to win the District 1 title on Friday. She's hitting on all cylinders at the right time and will look to collect her first state title on Saturday. Hebron out-dueled Cheltenham's Eyota Bey in a terrific showdown at District 1. Bey, a sophomore, went 55.89 for a close second. She enters the meet as the No. 3 seed.
That brings us to Delaware Valley's Taliyah Booker. After a big indoor season, Booker only raced dual meets before last week's District 2 Championships, where she dropped a very fast 55.86 to asset herself as a major title threat. Booker will be a factor in this race.
Amy Allen of South Fayette is another contender. Also a talented hurdler, Allen is going all-in on the sprints at the state meet. She dropped a PR of 56.01 to win the WPIAL title last week and looks to be in a great spot to be right in the mix for the win on Saturday.
Three others have run sub-57 this season: Alondra Church of Dallas, and Riley Ebersole and Mia Boardman, both from Cumberland Valley. Church went 56.95 to take second to Booker in District 2. Boardman went 56.94 and Ebersole went 56.99 to go 1-2 at Mid-Penns. But the JP McCaskey duo of Lucie De Syon and Kamiah Wright that finished 2-3 at the District 3 Championships, ahead of Ebersole and Boardman. De Syon has a 57.15 season best, while Wright has gone 57.34. That D3 group will be worth keeping an eye on in this field.
This is a very deep field, and there should be more than enough fast times to go around on Saturday. It will be very close for the title.
