AA Girls 4x800m Relay Preview
After an eighth place finish two years ago, Lewisburg Area is in the driver's seat to chase after the state title in the AA 4x800 meter relay. The Green Dragons made a big statement by winning a close race at the Altoona Mt. Lion Classic and the team followed that up with a AA-leading 9:33.62 to capture the District 4 title. Now they will look to turn that district gold into state gold on Friday morning.
Lewisburg out-dueled a strong Warrior Run squad for the D4 crown. Warrior Run went 9:37.09 for second in the district and will aim to flip the script on their district foes at Shippensburg. Meanwhile, Central Cambria is a team you can never overlook. The Red Devils went 9:47.98 to take a close second to Lewisburg in that Altoona meet earlier this season. Central Cambria, the District 6 champions, should be right in the mix, as well.
District 10 winners Villa Maria Academy went 9:48.48 this past week and look to be in a good spot heading into the state meet. Boiling Springs ran 9:48.24 at the Mid-Penn Championships before rolling to the District 3 title this past week. They could be in store for a good time drop.
Other sub-10 teams in this field with dreams of the podium include District 11 champions North Schuylkill, District 2 champions Holy Redeemer, WPIAL champions Avonworth/Northgate, and District 6 runners-up Westmont Hilltop.
