AAA Girls Shot Put Preview
Like the AAA discus, it looks like it will be a battle between the two top seeds, Siniru Iheoma of Council Rock South and Isabella Gera of Hempfield Area. While Gera is the top-ranked girl in the discus, Iheoma leads AAA in the shot.
Iheoma has put down a best of 51-8.5 this spring, which is good for US No. 3. She already has discus gold from two years ago, and now she will look to add shot put gold to her resume on Saturday. Gera, meanwhile, has a best of 45-5. She's consistently been in that mid-40s range, and that will make her a contender with a good day.
Hempfield Area's Elizabeth Tapper was second to Gera at WPIALs, launching a PR of 43-3.25. It's been a big season for the sophomore, who will be one to watch this weekend. others in the field with season bests over 40 feet are Spring Ford's Maura Baker, Governor Mifflin's Annika Ermold, Unionville's Alex Pancoast, and Stroudsburg's Emily Strunk.
