Pennsylvanians are on the road to RunningLane

The Boys

The Grove City Boys will be going for Gold in the Silver Race at Garmin RunningLane. While they will be the only boy's team competing at this year's championship, 34 PA boys will make the trip to Huntsville and continue their seasons on one of the fastest courses in the Nation.

The last we saw the Grove City Boys, they were at their best. They closed the door on their competitors and celebrated a statement state championship 2A Title. On the heels of a 161 Speed Rating, Grove City rolled away with the win and notched the second-best team performance of the day.

The Grove City Boys Team after winning the State Title

Now Pennsylvania's No. 3 Ranked Team will contend for the win in the Silver Tiered race with the same lineup that brought them a State Title.

The team they'll have to beat? Colorado's Fossil Ridge enters with a 15:31, team-best average. They were 14th at the 5A State Championship meet and will be coming down from altitude to compete, but we're not counting Grove City out.

Individually - notable entries include Brian DiCola (Hatboro Horsham), Timothy Roden (Central Dauphin), and Colin Whitaker (Lampeter Strasburg). All three finished inside the Top-10 at the Champ Sports Northeast Region Championship and punched their tickets to the Champ Sports National Championship next week in San Diego.

There are some question marks relative to who will compete, though Roden has confirmed he will be racing this weekend.

DiCola won the 3A State Championship before finishing fifth at the Northeast Regional. Roden bounced back from a disappointing State Championship to finish 10th in the Northeast. Whitaker was fourth in the 2A state championship race and finished eighth at regionals.

Drew Brill (LaSalle College High School) and Andrew McGonigle (Owen J Roberts) will join them in the gold race. Brill was Top 10 in the 3A State race, and McGonigle, who was 8th at the District 1 Final, unfortunately, missed the State Championship final.

Brett Kroboth (Peters Township), Gavin Mogck (Penncrest), and Matt Castronuovo (Upper Dublin) will headline the Silver Race. They were arguably snubbed from the Gold Race despite all finishing inside the Top-10 in the 3A State Race.

The Girls

The girl's races will have their own share of excitement, though only 19 girls are slated to compete in Alabama.

The Grove City Girls will also compete at Garmin RunningLane in the Silver Girls Race. They last finished third at the District 10 Championship and own a 1-5 average of just over 21 minutes. They'll look to mix it up in a deep and talented girls field.

Individually, we'll see Lillian DiCola (Hatboro Horsham), Sophia and Victoria Rodriguez (Dallastown), and Harley Kletz (Montour) in the Gold Race.

DiCola was 16th at the State Championship and 18th at the Champs Northeast Regional. Her personal best on the year is 17:48.

Fellow sophomore, Victoria Rodriguez, enjoyed a stellar 2022 campaign and broke 18 for the first time. She was 14th in the PIAA Final.

Her sister, Sophia, will join her older sister in the Gold Race. Sophia Rodriguez (Dallastown Area Middle School) just won the Open race at Team Northeast Regionals. She stormed to the 18:40 victory.

Kletz was the State Runner-Up in 2A this year. She has yet to finish worse than second all year and owns a personal best 18:12 5K.
