With the Indoor Track and Field season in full swing, the distance and mid-distance stars will trickle onto the track and set themselves up for the PTFCA Championship in February.
In 2022, Alli DeLisi (Penn Charter) was sandwiched between five seniors at the PTFCA Championship. Micah Trusty and Kate Edenson went 1-2, while DeLisi finished third in 2:13.85, and three seniors inhabited the subsequent few spots.
That landscape is going to look a lot different in 2023. With just two of the Top-8 returning from last year, the race for an 800m state title is wide open.
Cieslak should be hot on her heels. She has run 2:10 outdoors, and although she didn't compete at the Indoor State Championship in 2022, she was fourth at the PIAA Outdoor State Championship (3A). At that meet, she was bested by fellow returner Ella Woehlcke, though she usually doesn't compete for the PTFCA Championship.
