PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Avery Lewis, the phenom of Friends' Central, obliterated the competition at The Penn Relays by way of a 20-4.5 (+0.2) jump on Friday Morning. In doing so - Lewis became a repeat Penn Relays Champion and moved to US No. 3 on the current National Rankings.

Lewis improved on her previous season best of 19-7 (Bullis Invitational). She recorded four jumps better than her previous season's best.

After opening her series with a foul, Lewis re-established herself with a jump of 19-5.5. That moved her back into the lead. On her fourth attempt, she notched the event-winning mark.

While other athletes struggled with the cold, Lewis remained stoic. A combination of strides and Pennsylvania ruggedness kept Lewis composed.

"I mean, I'm from Pennsylvania, so I'm used to it (the cold)," said Lewis about the conditions. "I did have to warm up a little bit more than I usually would; I just did some sprint-outs and a-skips to stay loose, to jump to my full potential."
