SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - They might start calling her Record Setter. Katie Urbine (Solanco) broke and set yet another meet record on her way to a PIAA 3A State Championship Title.
If this is feeling like deja-vu, don't be alarmed.
Urbine broke the State Meet Record at the PTFCA Indoor State Championship a few months ago, and just last week, she broke the District 3 Meet Record on her way to gold.
So when she jumped 13-3 to tie the State Meet Record, it wasn't too much of a surprise. But when she cleared 13-9 - the crowd erupted at Seth Grove Stadium.
With the clearance - she locked in a State Title and jumped a lifetime best in the event.
Urbine also improved on her PA No. 2 All-Time Mark, setting the bar higher for girls of the future. She also sits as the current US No. 12
Veronica Vacca (Mount Saint Joseph) put in a valiant effort. She too tied the old State Meet Record of 13-3. She came away with a silver medal. Kirstin Hoffman (Kennett) rounded out the Top 3 with her jump of 12-9.
