The course record was broken twice at Big Spring HS on 10/9. How? Simple. Two different races with two very talented runners, one a freshman and one a sophomore. Big Spring\'s Lara Crofford is now the official course record holder for her home course, a nasty piece of real estate with a huge hill and tons of turns. She ran 19:16 to eclipse the record set an hour earlier in the Fountain Festival 5k, an open race in which homeschooled Neely Spence, the freshman, ran 19:26. Crofford came back an hour later, and with a little help through the uphill mile from Boiling Springs frosh Kara Millhouse in 6:15, hit the gas for a 19:16. Millhouse ran 19:43 for 2nd in the Varsity race. Palmyra won the team title behind the the 5th place by Megan Briggs in 21:09. In the boys\' race, Mechanicsburg placed three in the top nine and held off Shippensburg by six. Jed Yeattes, James Buchanan, went 17:16 for the individual win.
