Academy of Notre Dame's Maria Seykora prepped mile this coming weekend at New Balance Nationals with a winning 800 of 2:14.91. Teammates Katie Nappi was 3rd in 2:17.89, Siobhan Dougherty, 4th in 2:22.26, and Caroline Powers, 5th in 2:26.44. The four will be on the 4x800 that will also compete in NC.
Liberty's Amy Darlington is running the 2000 meter steeplechase in NC, and tuned up with a virtually solo 7:03.33 effort. Carlisle's April Schlusser was 1st in the mile in 5:16.55. And Central Columbia's Donna Scatena cleared 14-07.25 to take the pole vault.
Coming off a successful season in which she won her second consecutive Penn Relays mile to go with a 2nd PIAA AA 1600 Meter Championship, Homer Center junior Angel Piccirillo finished 13th in 4:56.12 in the adidas Dream Mile at Icahn Stadium in New York City. Piccirillo had been bothered since much of the season by a soar shin - which has reduced her road training mileage drastically. The mile race was won by California junior Camille Chapus in 4:42.71. The meet highlight was the sub-4 3:59.71 in the Boys Dream Mile by Illinois' Lukas Verzbicus, becoming the fifth prep runner to break the barriier, and only the second to accomplish the feat in a high school-only race. Florida's Marvin Bracy took the Boys Dream 100 in 10.47, while fellow Floridian Octavious Freeman came in at 11.78 to capture the Girls Dream 100.
