Friday March 8. However, many schools have already been approached about hosting district/sectional meets.

So if schools are being asked to host does that mean the classifications are done?
So if schools are being asked to host does that mean the classifications are done?
It must be decided. I would think it has been done for a while -- student numbers were reported months ago. I have no idea why they wait so long to publish the class and district assignments. Maybe someone around here knows.

I don't agree with the way that they do it, but... The reason that we don't already have classifications and district assignments is because they wait until the season starts to see which schools will actually participate in track and field. If schools drop the sport, that changes where the classification breaks occur because the breaks are based on there being a certain number of schools in each class. The vast majority of schools are locked in to their classification. Only the schools right on the border of the breaks could change. Assuming no class 5 schools drop track, Smith-Cotton will be the smallest class 5 school at 1055 and Parkview will be the largest class 4 at 1048.

Here is thought to throw into discussion. Numbers are released already as I believe we are using same as basketball. So why not make spring sport teams commit to doing it in January and thus move up class and district release time? Just a thought for better of both world.

Just wait until Cross Country season next year when we won't know what Class or District anyone's in until midway though the regular season. I 100% understand their reasoning, but its frustrating.

Don't mind waiting as long as they get it right. What ever class we end up with I am fine with that as long as we don't find out that 63 plus schools didn't field a team and we could have been in class 1.
