Golden Ram Invitational - Meet Preview

Friday will bring us a good mix of Delaware and PA talent at West Chester University for the Golden Ram Invitational.

BOYS' PREVIEW

Friday will mark the invitational season debut of Notre Dame-Green Pond's Greg Lauray. Lauray, the reigning AAA state champ, who jumped a best of 7-1 last season, will contest his first invitational of the season after winning a pair of dual meets to start his senior campaign.

In the triple jump, look for Strath Haven's Dayo Abeeb. The indoor state runner-up won his outdoor season debut last week at Haverford.

In the high hurdles, watch for West Catholic's Dajone Averett, who had a strong indoor season, until it ended early before the state meet. In the 200 meters, Bonner & Prendie's Ethan Cook will look for a fast early season time against some strong DE talent. Then in the 400 meters, the Glen Mills duo of Jbarwho Flahn and Denarii Springs, along with Bonner & Prendie's Dave Whitefield and West Catholic's Da'Vion Kidd-Jackson will be in what should be a fast quarter miler.

In the 800 meters, watch for Conestoga freshman sensation Carlos Shultz and Bonner & Prendie's Anthony Harper, who will also run the 1600 meters earlier in the night.

The West Chester Rustin duo of Edem Asamoa and Connor Cummings will look to continue a good start to their seasons in the throws. They are the top seeds in the discus. Speaking of throwing duos, Glen Mills' Quadir Gibson and Semaj Robinson are the top seeds in the shot put.

GIRLS' PREVIEW

Fresh off a win last week at Bruce Dallas, Lower Merion's Aja Davis will look to keep that momentum rolling into this weekend as the top PA entry in the 100 meters. Bonner & Prendie's Jewel Ford is also entered. Both will return later for the 200 meters, along with West Catholic's Dasia Wilson

The top seed in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles is Bonner & Prendie's Alaina Johnson, who won the 300s at Haverford last week. In the 800 meters, Conestoga's Dominique Shultz is the top seed.

In the throws, watch for Avon Grove's Chloee Kleespies. Kleespies transferred from Bishop Shanahan and should be a factor in District 1 for her senior season.
