Friday, March 21 – Tuesday, April 1

Speaking of that metatarsal…Yeah, not good. Was KILLING me, but I ran on and off for 3 weeks anyway. The bad thing was that I couldn't go to physical therapy while I was at home (am not insured over there anymore) so I didn't have it under control anymore… But as soon as I got back to Switzerland, I went to see my physical therapist and was able to run again…Well, within a couple of days… He told me I have to come once a week so I guess that's what I shall do!!! Or rather, have to do if I want to keep on running.

Supplements: Actually, my supplement today SUCKED! I had bought a bike from the States and got some bike guy to put it together… So Ueli and I drove down to pick the bike up to find out that it doesn't fit in the car…We live on top of this LOONG HILL. And I'm not talking a couple hundred meters, I am talking a few miles ALL UPHILL! So I biked home after my workout and was dead!!! So I decided that was enough supplement…my quads were BURRRRNING!!!
Details: Ran with some guys today!

Sunday – April 13, 2008

Training: Tried to go to sleep last night and couldn't breathe because it was all tight in my chest….Woke up this morning and could barely breathe…BRONCHITIS. Great, right when I thought I'm getting back into running and everything else BAM, down again…

Barrier after barrier???
Man ohhhh man…. So the rundown… Injured and took off 8 weeks… Started running again for about 4… Then that stupid metatarsal started to hurt, on and off for 3…STARTED BACK UP AGAIN for 2 weeks and then got bronchitis, pretty badly…took off and am taking off…I could normally run with some phlegm in the ol' bronchial tubes, but this time, I could barely breathe out…Really bizarre, I could or can take a deep breath, but then can barely breathe out! Not sure what that means, but it isn't comfortable… Also, it is bleeping FREEZING over here in Switzerland (by the way, NO, it isn't ALWAYS COLD HERE!!!) However, this year the winter has sort of stretched out over a longer period of time than usual… Also not the best thing for mucous-coated bronchial tubes! I am super frustrated… And I even have some runners around me who are worse off than I am, but I can't help it…I AM TOTALLY RUNNING OUT OF PATIENCE! I guess I am pretty down right now, I'll admit that… I just am not going anywhere!!! And I really started feeling good on my runs and tempo runs again! But I guess I should not feel sorry for myself! It just sucks! I suck! :-) Well, for right now, I am REALLY out of shape… Sooo, I just spent too much time complaining… Now… Steps to get over this barrier… So number 1. get healthy…so I see the doctor on Monday (again) 2. build, build, build up that base that has been eroded away from all the time off! 3. start up the speed work and the work on the track…get back to the roots, 1,000 m repeats with 60 sec. rests…my favorite workout and one of the most effective for me… It will take some time to get back to the point where I can comfortably run them in 3:40s, but I REALLY, REALLY have to try. All the way or nothing at all…

p.s. I have developed carpal tunnel syndrome…no joke. I am typing with tape wrapped around my wrist and I have to see the doc about this as well. Too much typing for school and too much translating…so a couple weeks ago when I said my hand was hurting….well that pain is nothing now because now it kills to even hold my cell phone…so I am also trying to learn how to use the mouse with my left hand!!! Yeah, not so fun. OOPS!!!!
