Ten Best Race Videos/Photos Of Districts Week

Wild Team Battles In The WPIAL In AAA

We talked a lot of the depth the WPIAL teams this season. They all went head-to-head at Cooper's Lake this past Thursday and we weren't disappointed.

On the girls' side, led by a terrific breakthrough race by Hannah Schupansky, Oakland Catholic pulled off a big upset over Fox Chapel Area. After that, Oakland Catholic's two through six runners each took spots in the top 16 and were separated by just 20 seconds. Fox Chapel took second and North Allegheny was third and all three teams qualified for the state meet this week.

Then on the boys' side, we saw four team within the state's top ten fighting for just three state qualifying spots. Seneca Valley, paced by Seth Ketler and Sam Owori, took the win with 87 points. Butler, led by the individual champion Noah Beveridge ran incredibly to take second, just seven points off SV. North Allegheny edged out Mount Lebanon 105-115 for that third and finals spot.

The WPIAL is loaded with individuals and teams that should make a major impact at states on Saturday.
