
A very talented class of girls 3,200 meter runners returns this spring to the fray. In AAA, there's an abundance of talent back and should all be pushing the limits.
At the top of the list is Clara Savchik of North Allegheny. Last year as a junior Savchik raced to the state title in AAA in the event, just missing the state meet record, clocking an impressive time of 10:21.65. The Duke recruit will be looking to build on that and repeat in the 3,200.
But the one to beat in AAA looks to be Marlee Starliper of Northern. She was a runaway XC state champ in AA and then won the 3,000 meters at indoor states after already winning the mile earlier in the meet. She ran 9:45.92 for 3K this winter. The sophomore is a rare talent and she could challenge Martha White 1978 state record of 10:09.2 in the event.
