AAA Boys' 3,200m Preview
Neshaminy's Rusty Kujdych will look to complete the distance trifecta this weekend. The senior won the AAA XC state title, then won the indoor 3K state crown. On Saturday morning, he'll look to add an outdoor 3,200 meter state championship to his name. Kujdych has run 9:10 this season. After a third place finish at outdoor states last year, he's the top returner in the field.
But sitting at PA#1 and the top seed in Saturday's field is Noah Beveridge of Butler ran 9:09 to win at the Baldwin Invitational and looks to be very fit heading into the weekend. He's shown his speed, running a 4:12 and will aim win his first state championship.
West Chester Henderson's Spencer Smucker and Council Rock North's Ryan Campbell placed second and third, respectively, in District 1. Both seniors will look to use their experience to their advantage on Saturday should be in the hunt.
North Allegheny's Daniel McGoey is having a great spring season. He ran 9:24 at Baldwin and took second in the WPIAL. Look for the sophomore to be in it with the seniors. Fox Chapel Area's Christian Fitch and Mars Area's Zachary Leachman also qualified out of District 7 and will compete for medals.
Mechanicsburg's Morgan Cupp took home the District 3 title. He was fourth at XC states, so he'll look to put down a similar effort. Jersey Shore Area's Isaac Davis won the District 4 title and should be a factor. He won the AA XC state crown and has run 9:24 this season. Unionville's Cole Walker, Spring Ford's Jacob McKenna, and Manheim Township's Ian Miller (seventh at indoor states in the 3K) could find themselves with medals by the end of the day.
