Starliper Debuts, NA Impresses: PIAA Foundation Recap

Girls' White Race Recap - PIAA Foundation Invitational

Sera Mazza enjoys the Hershey course. And for good reason. The Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy senior won a 1A state title there two years ago. Now in her final prep season, Mazza showed she's ready to contend again for a state title.

Mazza rolled to the White Race victory on Saturday, clocking a 19:44, 33 seconds ahead of second place. She noted she wasn't satisfied with her first two race performances of the season, but her Foundation win proved she's on a good track this fall.

Northern Lehigh's Reagan Pender continued her hot start to the season. She was second in 20:17. Haley Hamilton of Our Lady of Sacred Heart was third in 20:21, while Abigail Brown of Calvary Christian Academy was fourth in 20:41.

Vincentian Academy used depth to win the team title with 98 points. Hollie Walters paced the team with an eighth place finish in 21:26. Two others cracked the top 25 for Vincentian. The Brown-led Calvary Christian took second with 123 points and Masterman was third with 141. SJCA, led by Mazza's win took fourth with 168. It's worth noting SJCA was without Julia Cusatis, a usual lowstick. With her in the lineup, the Wolves would have likely contended for the win.
