AA Girls' 4x100m Relay Preview
Not much separates the top teams in the AA 4x1, a race that will be very close on Saturday. This one will come down to effective handoffs.
The top-ranked squad and top seed is Delone Catholic, which popped a quick 49.26 to win the District 3 title. That will make them the top seed after a sixth place finish last year in AA.
This will be close, though, with four other squads with seed times in the 49-second range. Paul Robeson won the District 12 title with a 49.48 in a race where Science Leadership Academy at Beeber was disqualified for a lane violation. Robeson was seventh last year and should be a contender for the win. The defending state champs from Neumann Goretti were second in D12, running a season best 49.78. Of course, the Saints can't be counted out here.
Loyalsock Township was sharp on Saturday, winning the District 4 title in 49.55. They have a quick group of girls that will contend for the title. Burrell went 49.86 to win the WPIAL crown in the 4x1, rounding out the teams that have sub-50 times coming into the weekend.
Slippery Rock Area, Bishop McDevitt, and Shade are right there on the cusp on the 50-second barrier and will be in the mix as well. Look for a tight finish here and a potential sub-49 time needed to take the win.
