The Week That Was: PA Week 3 XC Recaps

White Clay Creek Classic - Meet Recap

Girls

It was a strong day for Unionville's Marcella Krautzel, who won the 12th grade race in 19:07, just off the day's fastest time. That's just two ticks off Krautzel's career best 5K, a 19:05 from last season at Lehigh.

Among the other quick times by PA girls were Oxford's Christina Jimenez (20:02), Unionville's Meghan Smith (20:08), Oxford's Taj Lanier (20:12), and Unionville's Josie Cicchino (20:22).

Unionville, which showed off some impressive depth on Friday, took second to MD's Severna Park. Downingtown West was fourth and Oxford Area was fifth.

Boys

Reigning District 1 champion Cole Walker of Unionville made his 5K season debut a successful one. Walker won the 12th grade race and left no doubt about it, running 15:49 for the win, the fastest time of the day. He was 36 seconds ahead of second place. His Unionville teammate Ethan McIntyre second in the 11th grade race. McIntyre ran 16:18.

Other strong performances were turned in by Kennett's Gavin Maxwell (16:29), and the Oxford Area duo of Bruce Trimmer (16:30) and Luke Campbell (16:34).

In the team standing, though, it was Downingtown West that took second with 80 points. Unionville was third with 75 points, followed by fourth place Oxford Area. D-West was resting some of its top runners, but still proved its depth in a big way.
