McQuaid Invitational - Meet Recap

One of the biggest meets in New York state drew a solid contingent from Pennsylvania as the Keystone state entries fared well in the 55th annual McQuaid Invitational in Rochester. Dylan Throop of General McLane returned to the invitational scene in a big way as the junior backed up his 15:30.7 clocking in Lock Haven on the last day of August with a No. 2 finish in the Class AA race, running 15:12.5 over the three-mile course to NY standout Sam Lawler and his fastest time of the day of 14:54.7.

A pair of PA runners made the Class A top 10 as Elk County Catholic senior Ben Hoffman was 8th in 15:55.7, while Zach Buckner of Fairview was next in 16:01.9. Teammate Michael Grecchany and Ethan Weber were 13th and 14th for the Tigers, and ECC's Joe Wolfe was 15th.

In the girls' races, Maddison Hayes of Fairview was sixth in the Class A seeded race in 18:23.7, while teammate Halle Myers was 10th in 19:08.8. In Class AA, freshman Sarah Clark of Villa Maria was 11th in 18:45.1, while Devyn Bayle of General McLane was 19th in 19:17.4. Jules Jones of Cowanesque Valley won the Class A unseeded race in 19:05.2.
