Hawkins & Brown Lead A Fast Senior Class: Top 500 Boys 60m Returners

A very strong senior sprint class returns this year on the heels of big junior seasons, and it will make for a very fast next few months on the track. It all begins during indoor.

Central Dauphin East's Shawn Brown took second at the state meet last year in the 60 dash, as the now-graduated Devon Tate of Lower Merion captured the crown. Brown had a terrific junior season and ran his fastest of 6.90 at Susquehanna. Outdoors, Brown captured the state title in the 100 meter dash, so he had a ton of momentum entering the winter.

Haverford School's Daiyaan Hawkins, however, has the quickest returning time. He went 6.86 in the state semifinal. In the final, he took fifth. It was a breakthrough year for Hawkins. He ran 10.46 in the 100 meters outdoors. The state showdown between Brown and Hawkins will be a good one this winter. 

Two other state finalists are back in the 60 dash. Motivation's Laminu Abbas ran a best of 7.00 last year. He took sixth at state final and should be a factor again this...
