PIAA States Preview: Girls' Sprints & Hurdles

AA Girls 100m Preview

Two years ago as a sophomore Maddie Raymond of South Park was second in the AA 100 meters, as Thelma Davies rolled to her historic fourth straight 100 meter state title. After losing out on last season, Raymond, now a senior, will take to Ship as the top seed in the 100 after a 12.43 season best to win the WPIAL title in AA.

But this field is pretty wide open with a number of girls, looking to have a crack at the title. Grace Sarver of Bedford has the fastest time of the season in the field. She went 12.38 earlier this year and went 12.73 to win the District 5 crown. She's a sophomore that could make some noise.

Slippery Rock's Anna Kadlubek has perhaps been the most consistent in the bunch out of the contenders. She ran 12.52 to win District 10 and popped a 12.39 season best last week to win at Mercer County. The senior will look to go out on top. Avonworth/Northgate's Hayzes Robinson -- just a freshman -- will be one to watch in this group; she ran 12.42 earlier this spring. Montrose's Tangi Smith, Farrell's Brodie Sanaa, and Susquehanna Community's Tatum Norris are among the other top seeds that could get in the mix in what could shape up to be a very interesting event.
