Boys' Recap: PTFCA Indoor States

Boys Field Recap - PTFCA Indoor State Championships

Henry Banks Brandstadter of Springside Chestnut Hill walked away with a pair of gold medals in the field on Sunday. Banks Brandstadter started his day winning the long jump with a career best leap of 23-5.25, which is also the best jump in PA this season. Banks Bradstadter held off JP McCaskey's Troy Johnson, who put together a great series that included a best jump of 22-9. Johnson took second.

Banks Brandstadter returned later for the high jump, and claimed the win, clearing 6-4. It was a successful day for the senior.

Hershey's Justin Rogers already took down the all-time state record this winter, clearing 17-0.25 at the VA Showcase in January. On Sunday, Rogers added his first state title and took down the long-standing state meet record, as well. Rogers jumped 16-4 to win, breaking Andrew Rademacher's 2004 record, which stood at 16-3.

Pennridge's Jared Hess put down a big PR to win the triple jump. The junior leapt 45-3 in the fourth round, and that was enough to hold off a strong field -- many of whom put down good sixth round marks -- to take the state title.

Angelo Allen of Penn Hills left it until the final round to solidify his state title in the shot put. Allen threw 56-8.25 on his final attempt to move from second into the lead over Perkiomen Valley's Ronde Washington. Washington had a first throw best of 55-5.25 that stood the test of time until Allen's big final round bomb.
