Recap: Pan-Ram Invitational Outstanding Performances

The Pan-Ram Invitational did not disappoint. The meet was jam-packed with some of the top performances within the state so far this season! Check out some of the most outstanding times and marks from Saturday's invite!

Girls

Sprints

Laila Campbell (Spring Grove) had a powerful meet starting with a PA No.1 effort of 11.81 in the 100m dash prelims. She then improved her PA leading time with an 11.74 effort to win the finals. Campbell continued her success by having another PA No.1 performance of 24.68 to win the 200m dash. Saturday was a fantastic early season double for the reining outdoor state champion. 

Jillian Sydnor (Shippensburg) took the 400m dash win by running 57.99, beating 2nd place by over three seconds. This effort was a PA No.6 performance in the event for Sydnor.

Hurdles

Ryleigh Marks (Susquehannock) established the pace in the 100m hurdles running 14.55 for a PA No.1 effort in the prelims. Marks went on to win the finals in 14.65. Finishing behind her was Ny'Asia Benton (Obama Academy), running a PA No.3 time of 14.87 and, freshman Ella Bahn (Spring Grove), running a PA No.4 time of 14.92, and Maggie Scalzo (Easton Area), running a PA No.6 time of 15.08. This was one of the most competitive events of the day on the girl's side.

Varsity Girls 100 Hurdles Finals Section 1

Maggie Scalzo continued her success in the 300m hurdles taking the win in a PA No.1 time of 44.77. This was a fantastic performance by the sophomore, shaving off nearly a second from her previous personal best. Ella Bahn made her 300m hurdle debut running a PA No.5 time of 45.90. All in all, impressive times from two underclassmen.

Distance

Sarah Ann Miller (Twin Valley) showed great promise winning the 800m run in a PA No.3 time of 2:16.32. This is a solid time after a great indoor season for the senior.

If running top PA marks in the hurdles wasn't enough to impress you, then you'll be surprised to read that Ella Bahn took 2nd in the 800m run snagging the PA No.8 spot in a time of 2:19.54.

Jumps

Shaniyah Weidler (Susquehanna Township) won the triple hitting a PA No.4 mark of 36'-9.25". This is a solid early season mark for a returning state medalist and last year's freshman NBN champion in the event.

Vault

Marlayna Concannon (Red Land) took the win over Kaylie Groff (Palmyra) in the pole vault after both girls cleared 11'. Concannon and Groff are currently tied for the PA No.8 rank in the event.

Throws

To not much surprise, Ericka Jackson (Harrisburg High School) dominated her way to the win in the discus, throwing a season-best PA No.4 mark of 136'-5". Notably, Maria Clark (Mechanicsburg Araea High School) threw 121'-6", just 4' short of her season best. 

Ericka Jackson continued her success on the day, winning the javelin in a throw of 126'. This is just short of her season best by mark by 2'-2".

Ericka Jackson also won the shot put competition, throwing a PA No.3 mark of 41'-11.75". These are some incredible marks from one of the state's top throwers.

Boys

Sprints

Lex Cyrus (Susquehanna Township) won a stacked 100m dash final in 10.81. The sophomore had a PA No.6 performance beating many upper solid classmen. Finishing behind Cyrus was Jackson Clarke (Danville Area) running a PA No.10 time of 10.87, Nico Wright-Phillips (West York Area) running a PA No.11 time of 10.88, and LaDainian Strausbaugh (Red Lion) running a PA No.15 time of 10.91.

Jackson Clarke continued the meet with a standout performance in the 200m dash. The Princeton University commit won with a PA No.7 performance of 21.95.

 Hurdles

Daquan McCraw (Steelton-Highspire) and Steve Combary (Central Dauphin East) faced off in the 110m hurdles. The race ended with McCraw running a PA No.12 time of 15.09 to out lean Combary, who ran a PA No.14 time of 15.11. 

Perry Addey (West York Area) won the 300m hurdles running a PA No.5 time of 39.72. Daquan McCraw also broke 40 seconds by running a PA No.7 time of 39.93. Tyler Burgess (Palmyra) ran 40.19, being the third boy in the race to crack the PA Top 10.

Distance

Timothy Roden (Central Dauphin) and David Seel (Twin Valley) ran away from the pack in the 800m run. Roden won running a PA No.2 time of 1:56.02 while Seel took 2nd running a PA No.6 time of 1:56.89. 

The 1600m run might have been one of the most competitive events of the day on the boy's side, with five runners cracking the PA Top 10. Matthew O'Brien (Susquehannock) took the win running a PA No.2 time of 4:14.49. Finishing just behind O'Brien were Timothy Roden in 4:15.50 and Anthony Engle (Twin Valley) in 4:18.30. Brining in the tail end of the lead pack were Hayden Parks (Greencastle-Antrim) in 4:20.50 and Parker Stoner (Lampeter Strasburg) in 4:20.99.

Varsity Boys 1600 Finals Section 3

Rory Lieberman (Danville Area) made an exciting charge in the 3200. Lieberman won running a PA No.3 time of 9:11.68. Matt Castronuovo (Upper Dublin) finished not far off, running a PA No.4 time of 9:14.68. A dominating run by two of the state's top long-distance runners.

Jumps

Hayden Smith (Union-Allegheny Clarion Valley) won the high jump by 4 inches. Smith cleared 6'-6", setting a new PA No.2 height for the season. 

Vault

Breckin Swope (East Pennsboro Area SD) matched his pole vault season best, clearing 15' to win Saturday's meet. Swope currently sits at the PA No.4 spot this season. Finishing behind Swope was current PA No.1 Mason Bucks (Palmyra). Bucks cleared 14'-6", which is 1' off his season best. 

Throws

Wesley Schooley (Central Dauphin) won the javelin, throwing a PA No.10 mark of 172'-7". This is a new personal best for the senior.
