Abington Invitational - Meet Preview
Expect a very competitive girls' race for the individual win on Saturday at Abington. There are a number of contenders led by the likes of Upper Moreland's Jill Kelly, North Penn's Maeve Gimbert, Gwynedd-Mercy's Kelly Murray, Cheltenham's Janelle Williams, and Cardinal O'Hara's Christine Mancini. Each of these girls will be looking for a successful start to their 2018 seasons.
In the team race, North Penn will aim for the win, but it will see a challenge from Methacton, Wissahickon, Great Valley, and Cardinal O'Hara.
On the boys' side, we'll see a good matchup between a pair of state hopeful squads, Council Rock South and Great Valley. Council Rock South, led by Collin Ochs and Kyle Kutney, opened up with a win at Neshaminy last week. Great Valley has some good potential, with Seth Hoffritz the team's top returner from last year. Pennridge and Haddon Heights (NJ) could also contend.
Individually Ochs and Kutney, who went 1-2 last week, will be in the mix. So will Kevin Sankey of Haddon Heights, who ran 16:13 last fall.
