Training:  RACED. 15 warm up,  15k, mountain run (for me) UP AND DOWN AND UP AND DOWN, 5 minute cool down.

Day Mileage:  10 miles

Details:  Well, if there's one thing I learned, it's that I am not made for mountain running.  The up is bad, but the down-hill running is WORSE.  My shins were killing me!!!  And my joints, and my back, and and and.    My team finished second though (it was a relay race).  I had to run 15k and the other two had to run about 10k.

It's been a while….

I KNOOOW, I  have really been suckin' it up with keeping this blog up, but I have had A LOT to do!  I really keep myself busy, maybe TOO busy so I am trying to re-organize, re-situate myself in my life!  I am STILL in the process of moving (so I have to clean my last apartment up too), I am studying in a really difficult program at the University of Bern as well as obtaining my Swiss teaching certification (which, by the way, requires a master's degree if you plan on teaching anyone in high school or above), I'm still working with my little kids (English group), I am still translating (free lance), I am still TRAINING!!!!!!....and, and, and…So again, I am really sorry, but I will try to make it my goal to do a better job keeping up with this thing once I am finally caught up to October 30th!!!!

So, what have I learned since I last wrote a long rant…

Let me think…

Okay, so one thing I learned about myself is that I can't run in the summer!  I can't!  I can't breathe and that's all there is to it.  I went to the TOP sports Doc here in Switzerland (who works with the Olympic team) and I don't think there is any medication I can take or any inhaler I can inhale that would improve my problem in the summer….SOOOO, I've decided to make the fall and winter my "main" season instead of the summer…That is until I find a solution (I am still working on that one)…  So, that means that I am in my main season now…I've decided…  I will take one example of how I learned this…So, I run a 10k road race at the end of the summer…it's hot, it's in the middle of a bunch of grassy fields and I run a terrible time of about, I dunno, 40 minutes!!!  I THEN run a hilly half marathon, and run just about as fast for DOUBLE the distance…So yes, road race season, here  I am hear me roar….!!!!!  I am actually writing this on October 30th (yaaay, tomorrow is Halloween) so I am writing this from the perspective I have now.   Okay.  Done with that.

The second thing I've learned is that I am motivated yet again!!!  I am sure you have all been dragged into my hole with me because I know when I'm not motivated, I can be very un-motivating…BUT, I am back yet again with my motivational spiel.  :-)   I've decided that I STILL have the potential in me that I always thought I've had, but I am not being given the opportunity to show it…I know what you want to say, Josi, you are in control of your own destiny blah blah, yes, I am in control of it…  However, I am coach-searching so that way I can actually train on a schedule, because like I've mentioned, JOSI NEEDS STRUCTURE!!!  I can't just go out and run for as long as I feel like.  I need a plan that says, Josi, today run 80 minutes…and then if I feel tired after 50, I think "C'mon Josi, just get through it" and then actually run the full 80 mins instead of the 50 where I was still feeling good… So, just wait.  I know, it has been a long 2 years of waiting around for me to show you what I got…BUT, I have a feeling that there is a lot more in me.  I'm not saying I am going to break any world records or that I am going to the Olympics next year, I am more telling MYSELF, Josi, you got more in you than you think you do so START TRAINING!!!!!!!  So I guess this is more a motivational thing for me….so sorry for writing my brains out on paper…or rather computer screen, but this is what I do, I bat things around until I feel good…..so have a good day, to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness and I'm sure I'll be back on some sort of rant very soon…..

NEXT: October 15 - 28 – If you can run 25 laps alone, you should be ready to face a race...

PREVIOUS: September 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 – Back on track soon...(in many ways)
