A Way Too Early Look at 2018 XC: Top Girls Teams & Individuals For Next Season

Way Too Early Look To Next Year - Girls' Class A

The battle for Class A supremacy looks to be wide open next season. Recently announced classification shifts will have a big impact on the girls' side. For one, the 1A champions from Fairview are transitioning from 1A to AA for next season. And state runner-up Lauren Trapani of Warrior Run, who just finished up an incredible freshman season, but she, too, is moving to AA with her team.

So where does that leave us?

Northern Potter's Danielle Perry is the top returner based on state finish. The sophomore ran the best race of her career to take fourth at Hershey. Haley Hamilton of Our Lady Of Sacred Heart was seventh at states. Saint Joseph's Catholic's Sera Mazza, who won the state title as a sophomore in 2016 was eighth this season and will be a senior next year. Vincentian's Tara Lucot is another top ten returner. Loyalsock's Isabel Sagar moves from AA to 1A and will look to close out her career on a high note after placing ninth in AA in 2017.

With Fairview (first this fall) and Warrior Run (fifth this fall). both leaving 1A, Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy will look to win its third state title in four years. The Wolves took second this year, just three points off the champs from Fairview. Vincentian Academy was third and Marion Center was fourth and both have a good group of returners.

Predictions

Hamilton moves up to the top spot, winning the individual 1A state title over Perry, Mazza, and Sagar. Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy wins that third state title in four years taking the victory narrowly over Vincentian Academy and Marion Center Area.
