AA Girls' 400m Preview
Neumann Goretti's Mykala Perry will go for her second straight 400 meter state title. The versatile sprinter has been rolling in the one-lapper this season. She popped a quick 55.14 at Bullis this season and has done a lot of winning in the event. She's the top seed by over a second and will be a strong favorite here.
Bloomsburg's Sage Harmon won her second straight District 4 title on Saturday, and she'll go for another state medal in the 400; she was third last year. She clocked a big PR of 57.15 to win D4 and will be one to watch. Second place in this race last year was Penns Valley Area's Isabella Culver. Culver won another District 6 title last week and will look for another strong showing at Ship.
The other returning medalists in this field are Everett Area's Kaitlyn Maxwell (fourth) and Shade's Lorna Speigle (sixth). The pair went 1-2 in District 5 with Maxwell taking the win last week.
Girard College's Margaret Conteh was second in District 1 to Alina LaForest (not entered in the 400) in 57.89, a nice PR for the sophomore. She should be a factor in this field. Lewisburg's Elena Malone, East Allegheny's C-Keiyah Marshall, Fort Cherry's Mara Whalen and Montoursville's Lily Saul are among the other contenders in this solid field.
