Dry & Faster This Year: Carlisle Invite Preview

Girls' Champions Race Preview - Carlisle Invitational

The one to beat looks to be Peyton Ellis of Boiling Springs, who has had a great start to her high school career. The freshman was second in PTXC's Blue Race and then won the A/AA race at Ben Bloser two weeks ago. She'll aim to keep it rolling into Saturday in the Champions Race.

Ellis will be challenged by Stella Kuntz of Central Cambria, who took second in the Champions race last year. She was second to Ellis at Ben Bloser, but will go for redemption here.

Lampeter-Strasburg's Colleen Gilbert, Punxsutawney's Olivia Roberts, Warwick's Anna Martin, and Annvile-Cleona's Braetan Peters are among the other girls who will be shooting for high finishes on Saturday.

Central Cambria is the team to beat. The Red Devils are the defending AA state champs and started off its season winning at both Red, White & Blue and Ben Bloser. Saturday could make it three wins to kick off its title defense season. Upper Dublin and Wissahickon are a pair of District 1 squads to watch for, while Washingtonville (NY), Woodgrove (VA) and Mount Pleasant (DE) make up a trio of out-of-state teams aiming for strong team performances on Saturday.
