Adidas Indoor Nationals: PA Girls Preview

Adidas Indoor Nationals - PA Girls Distance Preview

Championship 800m - Sunday, 12:45 P.M. (Final On Time)

There are three PA girls entered in the 800 meters, each have run between 2:19 and 2:21 this winter.

Micah Trusty of Friends' Central is the top PA entry based on season best. She went 2:19.15 at Glen Mills earlier this season. Third at the state meet last year, Trusty could be looking at a significant time drop in the half mile on Sunday early afternoon. She'll be in the last and fastest section.

Alina LaForest of Chester went 2:20.55 on the VA Beach track earlier this winter. Look for her to be a factor here. Miracle Price, also from Friends' Central has gone 2:21.21 this season at Glen Mills. Both LaForest and Price are in the second of three Championship sections.

Championship 1 Mile - Sunday, 2:35 P.M. (Final On Time)

Moon Area's Mia Cochran and Blue Mountain's Olivia Haas are PA's two entries in the mile, scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Cochran is entered in the 2 mile the day before. She'll return in the mile the next day. She went 5-flat for 1600 meters in late January and will be looking to dip under that 5 minute threshold for a full mile.

Haas, meanwhile, has gone under 5 minutes for the full mile. The AA XC state champion from the fall is competing indoors for the first time in her career. She ran 4:58 at VA Beach in early February and now she returns, looking to improve on her own PA#1 in the event.

Championship 2 Mile - Saturday, 3:15 P.M. (Final On Time)

Three of the state's top distance girls from the fall are entered in the 2 mile, set for Saturday afternoon.

Two-time AAA XC  state champ Mia Cochran of Moon Area is in the field. She went 10:52 in the 3200 meters earlier this season. West Chester Henderson's Jenna Mulhern will be someone to watch, too. She dropped an impressive 10:19 in the 2 mile on this same track earlier this winter. Margaret Carroll of Northeastern is entered in the 5K on Friday, but if she comes back for the 2 mile, she should be a factor, as well.

The field is jam-packed with talent, headlined by Wyoming's Sydney Thorvaldson, who ran the second fastest high school 2 mile ever earlier this season with a 9:47.

Championship 5,000m - Friday, 6:30 P.M. (One Section)

A trio of PA girls are entered in the 5K set for Friday evening: Northeastern's Margaret Carroll, Pine-Richland's Meredith Price, and Springside Chestnut Hill's Ella Woehlcke.

Carroll is the one to watch here. The Villanova recruit was third at XC states in the fall and capped off her winter with a blazing 16:50 5K on the outdoor track at Henderson. She's coming off a sub-5 1600m at YSU a few weeks ago and looks to be in good shape heading into Friday.

This looks to be a wide open field and a good opportunity for Carroll to perhaps chase after a national title.
