Grace Forbes made her cross country debut a successful one on Saturday below the Mason-Dixon Line. The Strath Haven junior, who has had a great career on the track through two years, previously played soccer. But she made the decision to go all-in with XC this season. In her first race, Forbes took second to one of Maryland's top runners, Anna Coffin. Coffin went 19:13 in the rain, just ahead of Forbes and her 19:16.
The Strath Haven girls took home the team title, scoring 56 points, 32 ahead of second place. After Forbes, Abby Loiselle (seventh in 20:45) and Ava Crawford (21:00) also placed in the top ten. It was a strong start for Forbes career, as she and her Haven teammates will be worth watching for out of District 1 this season.
