AAA Girls' 800m Preview
Grace Forbes has accomplished quite a bit during her track and field career. But the Strath Haven senior is still hungry for one last thing before she graduates: an individual state title. Forbes will have a great shot in the AAA 800 meters, where she enters as the top seed and favorite at Shippensburg.
Forbes has run a season best of 2:08.43 to win the Central League and ran 2:10.18 after a very long day of racing at the District 1 Championships. That will bode well for her as she looks to take home that open 800 win. She was second last year in the event at states.
The talented field won't include indoor state champion Taryn Parks, who is going after the 1600 win, but it is strong nonetheless. Radnor's Keara Seasholtz was second to Forbes in District 1. She went 2:12.59, a PR, and seems primed to improve on her fifth place finish from a year ago.
Central Dauphin East's Makenna Krebs ran a PR of 2:12.95 to take second to Parks at District 3. She was tenth last year, but will have a great shot at a very high finish this time around. Greensburg Salem's Malia Anderson took fourth at the state meet last season. She has run 2:13.36 this season and should make another run towards the medal stand this season.
Other contenders in this very deep field include Cardinal O'Hara's Christine Mancini, Elizabethtown Area's Katie Locker, Milton Hershey's Tatyana Gibson, Coatesville's Sammie Miller, and Butler's Liz Simms.
