A Quiet Day In Hershey: PIAA Foundation Invite Recap

Boys Recap - PIAA Foundation Invitational

A Boys - The Jenkintown boys showed on Saturday why they will be a very tough team to beat in Class A this season. The Drakes took the top three spots in A with Carter Geer leading the way, taking the top spot with a 17:02. Luke Miller was second in 17:38 and right behind him was Oliver Michell, taking third in 17:39.

Jenkintown scored just 22 points in the A race . In the overall meet merge of all three classification, Jenkintown was third behind only AAA schools LaSalle College and North Allegheny. Penns Valley Area, a team that may have matched up well with the Drakes, was without its top two runners -- Colton Sands and Brendan Colwell -- on Saturday. Eden Christian Academy, led by fourth-place Sean Aiken was second in the team standings with 58 points.

AA Boys - Weber Long of Greencastle-Antrim took the top spot in AA, running away with his race in a time of 16:43, the lone AA boy in the meet to break 17 minutes. It's a good first invite of the season for Long, who figures to be among the top AA boys in the state this season. Beaver Area's Will Lamb was the second AA boys overall, running 17:03. Indiana Area's Joel Beckwith was third in 17:10 and Grove City's Gabe Nichols was fourth in 17:19.

Northwestern Lehigh was impressive in the team standings, taking the AA win with 94 points to beat out second place Grove City Area, which was second with 103 points

AAA Boys - A pair of the state's top two boys teams was among the main storylines on Saturday. In the end, the LaSalle College boys came out on top, winning the team title with 58 points to beat out North Allegheny, which scored 68.

Zachary Brill led the way for LaSalle College, clocking the day's overall fastest boys time to win with a 16:42. His brother Drew Brill wasn't far behind, taking third in 16:49 to make for a solid Explorers top two. LaSalle's 1-5 spread was 48 seconds. North Allegheny packed up with its top five spread at just 19 seconds. Ultimately though, LaSalle was able to put three in before NA's one and that was a big difference maker in the final standings.

With Brill taking the overall win, Manheim Township's Tyler Stevens came across second in the final merge of the AAA results. He went 16:44 in what is proving to be a breakthrough fall for the junior. State College's Brady Bigger was fourth overall with a 16:56, while Exeter's Alex Holbrook was fifth in 16:58 and Noah Petersen was sixth in 17:00.
