Meet Recap: PTXC 12.2

Girls Recap - PTXC 12.2

Gold Race

It was a great battle up front in the first girls' high school race of the day on Saturday. Governor Mifflin's Kaitlyn Highduch and Chambersburg's Camryn Kiser separated themselves around the mile and it became a two-girl race the rest of the way.

Highduch got the advantage in the final mile, and ran to the win in the day's lone sub-19 time, a 18:54. Kiser came across second in 19:03. For Highduch, it's her second win in as many weeks, making it a strong start for the sophomore who was a state medalist as a freshman last year.

Hershey's Brooke Preputnick was third in 19:14, a strong PR early in the season for the junior. Howard (MD) took the next three spots with Elizabeth Holcombe, Nimrit Ahuja, and Jasmine Wilson taking fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.

Howard, led by that strong top three easily took home the team title with 33 points and just a 16-second 1-5 spread. Governor Mifflin was the top PA team, taking second with 105 points. Hershey was a close third with 108 points.

Chambersburg (146 points) was fourth and Strath Haven (175 points) was fifth to round out the top five.

Blue Race

Lillian DiCola made her high school invitational debut a successful one. The Hatboro Horsham freshman ran to the Blue Race win on Saturday, clocking a time of 19:28. That time would have placed DiCola sixth in the Gold Race.

Danbury's (CT) Stephanie Queiroz was second in 19:34. Montgomery's (NJ) Julia Scrudato was third in 19:52, followed by Hatboro Horsham's Emily Simko in fourth and Elk Lake's Krista Jones in fifth.

Downingtown East won the Blue Race team title with 79 points, beating out second place Montgomery (NJ) and third place Central Bucks East.
