Penn Relays Preview: PA Girls Invitational Events

High School Girls' Mile Run Championship - Thursday, 5:00 P.M.

PA Entries: Mia Cochran (Moon Area); Alli DeLisi (Penn Charter)

After a big indoor season, Cochran returns outdoors on Thursday to compete in the mile. It was a banner indoor campaign for the Moon senior, who went 4:42.49 to take fifth in the mile at New Balance National Indoor. Now Cochran is ready for another challenge, where she will square off with the NBNI indoor champion Juliette Whitaker (4:37) from Maryland, along with New York's Kate Putman among others. DeLisi, who went 4:56 indoors for the mile, and has enjoyed a nice start to her freshman outdoor season, is also in the field.

High School Girls' 3,000m Championship - Thursday, 5:10 P.M.

PA Entries: Vanessa Alder (Carlisle); Natalie McLean (Pine-Richland); Claire Paci (Greencastle-Antrim); Jolena Quarzo (Brownsville Area); Caryn Rippey (Wilson); Claire Zubey (Owen J. Roberts)

This field is jam-packed with talent in what will be a crowded 27-entry field. NJ's Angelina Perez headlines this field, though NY's Karrie Baloga, NJ's Charlotte Bednar should mix it up near the front. Quarzo comes in to the meet at PA No. 1 in the 3200, with a 10:27 PR from a few weeks ago. Alder, meanwhile, is the state leader in the 1600m, and enters Penn with a lot of momentum.
