PIAA States Preview: Girls' Distance

AA Girls' 3,200m Preview

Isabel Sagar of Loyalsock Township is in the midst of a great junior season and she'll be looking to cap it off with a state title in the 3,200 meters. Sagar's run the two fastest times in the event by AA girls. She won the District 4 title in runaway fashion, finishing in a 10:50.91.

District 3 brings a number of potential challengers to the table, though. Oley Valley's Rebecca Snyder won the D3 title in the 3,200, beating out Maddie McLain of Eastern York and Elaina Clancy of Boiling Springs. All three girls have a lot of talent and should compete for the win on Saturday morning.

Brownsville Area's Gionna Quarzo won the WPIAL title decisively. She comes in with a season best of 11:04 and is another one capable of competing for the win.

The defending AA state champ, Christina Difalco of Pine Grove Area, was second at the District 11 Championships to North Schuylkill freshman upstart Cori McCormick. Both girls should expect to be in the mix near the front of this race.

Karns City's Rebecca Pennington, Marion Center's MacKenzie Walker, and Fairview's Maddison Hayes should also compete for high finishes in this solid field of two milers.
