TSTCA Meet #2 - Meet Recap

Girls

It was a very strong day for State College Area vaulters. On the girls' side, Lyndsey Reed joined the 13 feet club, vaulted 13-even for the pole vault win. She's the first PA girl over 13 this season and now at US#6. She is just the sixth girl in state history to vault 13 or better indoors.

Casey Burton of North Allegheny stayed hot after a strong opening TSTCA meet. She won three events on the day: 60 meters (7.81), 200 meters (26.34), and the long jump (18-9.5). Her LJ performance is an inch and half better than her season best from a week prior and puts her at PA#2.

In the 3K,  Gianna Labbiento of Sharon ran to the win and a new PA#4. The sophomore clocked a 10:09.40 for the victory. Bethel Park's Emily Carter took second with a PA#5 time of 10:12.50.

Earlier in the meet, Labbiento went 5:07.15 (PA#6) to win the mile. Julia Cusatis of Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy went 5:10.38 (PA#8) for a close second.

Jane Madson of Upper Saint Clair claimed a win and an all-conditions PR in the 400 meters. The senior rolled to the win in 58.45, a PA#7 performance.

Hempfield Area's Mackenna Orie picked up the win in the shot put with a toss of 44-10, not far off her season best and PA#3.

The Butler girls won the 4x200-meter relay in a PA#10 time of 1:48.90.


Boys

Luke Knipe of State College Area took down his PR in the pole vault. The senior cleared 15-4, a PA#2. His previous all-conditions best was 15-3.5 from last outdoor season.

In a competitive 4x200-meter relay, Greater Latrobe showed off its sprint strength, winning in 1:33.24 (PA#8), an impressive time on a flat track. Altoona Area took second, followed by Butler.

Dalton Kalbaugh of Shaler Area went 9:04 in the 3K for the win, a time that puts him at PA#9. Seneca Valley's Seth Ketler dipped under 2 minutes in the 800, winning in a PA#8 1:59.74.

Baldwin's Brendan O'Malley picked up a pair of sprint wins, taking the a close win in the 400 meters (51.28) and then the 200 meters (22.56). Jared Bannon of Hempfield Area (already PA#6) won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.34, just off his season best of 8.31.
