PIAA District 5 Championships
Who To Watch For: Logan Pfister (Chestnut Ridge)
Why? He's the top-ranked District 5 boy in the high jump, long, and triple jump, so he could be looking at three golds at Northern Bedford. The high jump is his best event. After jumping his career best of 6-2 last season as a freshman, he's upped his game in the event this year, clearing a 6-6.25 last week.
What to expect? Consistency in an event like the high jump is everything, and Pfister has twice cleared 6-6 or better. He started his season witha . 6-6 at Bedford, before the 6-6.25 at the LHAC Championships. That's a good sign that Pfister can keep it rolling into districts and states. He's currently the second-ranked high jumper in AA, so he'll be a serious factor for a state crown.

Who To Watch For: Kaitlyn Maxwell (Everett Area)
Why?: She is the top-ranked District 5 athlete in the 100, 400, and 800 meters.She won all three of those events at last week's ICC Championships and PR'd in the 100 meters (12.84). A year ago, she was fourth in the 400 meters and sixth in the 800 meters at the state meet after running away with district titles in both events.
What to expect: She'll be the one to beat in the district in virtually any event she enters, likely the 400 and 800, where she is a returning state medalist in both. Last year she ran her PR of 57.94 in the 400 meters at the District 5 meet. She may be on track for another similar performance this season if the conditions cooperate.
