Hornet Harrier Invitational - Meet Recap
Youth was served in the girls' race at the Hornet Harrier Invitational as only one senior finished in the top 20. Junior Maddison Hayes of Fairview came out on top in a tightly contested 5K with a time of 19:00. District 10 rivals Meaera Shannon (19:05) of Conneaut Area and Grace Mason (19:27) of Wilmington flipped their order from 2018, while last year's winner Gianna Labbiento of Sharon continues her return to form after an injury with a 19:32 for fourth. Mason and her Greyhound teammates led the team race with 94 points, followed by Fairview (112), Lakeview (114) and Mercyhurst Preparatory (118).
An equally tight group at the top of the boys' results had senior Troy Hart of Reynolds crossing first in 16:32 after placing No. 2 a year ago. Senior Ethan Weber (16:36) and junior Zach Buckner (16:37) of Fairview were the next to finish as three others completed the 5K in under 17:00. In the team standings, Cochranton's 99 points topped the host Hickory (104) and West Middlesex (112).
