PREVIEW: The 48th Paul Short Run

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS PREVIEWS

Brown Race

Notable Teams:

PA # 2 Dallastown
PA #3 - Emmaus
PA #5 - Hershey
PA #7 - Owen J Roberts
PA #8 Perkiomen Valley
(NR) Manheim Township
Conestoga

Like the Boys Brown race, we are set to see five ranked teams battle in what will be an exciting day in Lehigh. Add in a couple of unranked teams, and we might see some surprises after all is said and done.

The field will feature Dallastown and Emmaus, who consistently maintain their ranking inside our Top 3. Dallastown was most recently victorious at the Ben Bloser Bulldog Invitational, and we haven't seen Emmaus compete in a big invitational since their victory at the Northampton Invite. Time will tell who comes out on top.

It may be Hershey, who just won the Carlisle Invitational with a 19:24 average. They're led by Brooke Preputnick, who will also be competing for the individual title. Last weekend she ran 18:08 to finish fourth at Carlisle.

She'll have some challengers, including a stout three from Tatnall (DE) Katie Payne, Carlita Kaliher, and Katrina Endres, who have all run in the low 18's.

Virginia Kraus of Moravian Academy ran sub-18 at Northampton in early September and is probably considered the individual favorite. She sits at PA #4 with her 17:55. At that meet, she edged out Lana Hurwitz (Parkland), who ran 18:23 on the same day.

The team race is certainly up for grabs in the White Race. The Conrad School of Science is one of the top teams in Delaware. Out front for them, they have Alyssa Napier, who ran 18:58 at the Six Flags Wild Safari race last week.

Ella Woehlcke will be one of the top individuals in this race. Woehlcke is an experienced sophomore from Mount Saint Joseph.
