The top time from last year's PIAA State Championships returns with Virginia Kraus of Saucon Valley, the defending 2A champion who clocked 18:18 at Hershey. Last fall Kraus also won the Foot Locker Northeast Regional and went on to finish eighth at Foot Locker Nationals.

In the spring Kraus was third at Penn Relays in the 3000m running 9:31.62 and won the PIAA State Championships 3200m title at 10:22.08.

Kraus isn't the only defending champion from PIAA States, Claire Dufrene of Warrior Run won the 1A title with a 19:04 last fall and is the 11th fastest returner overall.

The 3A champion has graduated and the top returner from that division is Ana Bondy of Carlisle, second overall on this list, at 18:33. Sophomore Leah Navarro of Dallastown was a close third in that race as well, also at 18:33, and is third overall on this list as the leading sophomore.

The top junior is Emily Fisher of Somerset Area ranked fifth amongst returners from PIAA Championships at 18:37.
