PIAA District 4 Championships
- Meet Date: Thursday, 5/16 & Saturday, 5/18
- District 4 Leaderboard Links: AA Girls | AAA Girls | AA Boys | AAA Boys
Who To Watch For: Allen Taylor (Williamsport Area)
Why?: He is the top-ranked AAA boys in District 4 in the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles, so the sophomore will be going for the sweep. This spring, he's run 14.35 in the high hurdles and 39.66 in the intermediates, and last week was crowned PHAC champ in both. He's yet to PR in both, so he'll be motivated come district meet time.
What to expect: Unlike last year, both hurdle events are wide open in AAA. A number of talented boys have emerged, but there maybe isn't a clear-cut favorite yet in the 110s or the 300s. Taylor really started to hit his stride last summer, when he hit his PR of 14.33 in the 110 meter hurdles and ran some strong 400 meter hurdle race in the non-PIAA season. He'll be looking to close out his season on a high note.
Others to watch: Mason Brubaker (AAA - Pole Vault); Dominic Caputo (AA - Jumps); Julian Fleming (AA - Sprints/Jumps); Benjamin Gambrell (AA - Jumps); Josh Gose (AA - Throws); Cole Heintzelman (AA - Javelin); Aaron Keeler (AAA - Javelin); Ethan Knoebel (AA - Distance); Krystof Lapotsky (AA - Distance); Owen Mahon (AAA - Mid-Distance); Joey Masser (AAA - High Jump); Jake Rose (AA - Hurdles); Kameron Schreffler (AA - Hurdles); Eric Zimmerman (AAA - Sprints)
Who To Watch For: Isabell Sagar (Loyalsock Township)
Why?: Sagar is the second-ranked AA girl in PA in both the 1600 and 3200 meters. The Harvard recruit has run bests of 4:55.49 in the 1600 and 10:32.09 in the 3200. She was the AA runner-up at states last year in the 3200 meters, but has already run much faster than her best time from a year ago on numerous occasions, and even took third in the 3K at the Penn Relays (9:37.70). She's in some of the best shape of her life and in the stretch run of her high school career, she'll aim to go out on a high note.
What to expect: The 1A state champ from the XC season will be aiming to win her first state title on the track after a close second place finish a year ago at states in the 3200. Sagar has also proven this season to be an effective doubler, something that will be crucial in the postseason. It remains to be seen what her plan is for states. For the District 4 meet, expect Sagar to go after wins in both of her main distance events.
Others to watch: Leah Bergey (AAA - Hurdles/High Jump); Kari Cambria (AA - Hurdles); Ariana Gambrell (AA - Hurdles/Jumps); Sophia Gardner (AA - Jumps); Sage Harmon (AA - Sprints); Megan Hoffman (AAA - Sprints); Nicole Keeley (AAA - Distance); Blessing Laudermilch (AAA - Jumps); Reba Lorson (AAA - Javelin); Charlotte Neylon (AA - Sprints); Charley Slusser (AA - High Jump); Cassidy Stackpole (AAA - Javelin); Lauren Trapani (AA - Distance); Hailey Zurich (AA - Pole Vault/Sprints/Jumps)
