Who To Watch For: Skylar Ciccolini (Mifflin County)

Why?: Ciccolini launched the second-best throw in national high school history in the javelin at April's Penn Relays with a first attempt of 184-2. It's a mere foot and a half off the state and national record of 185-8, held by Madison Wiltrout of Connellsville since 2015. Ciccolini will be shooting for her third straight District 6 AAA javelin title, and then after that her second straight AAA state crown.

What to expect: Since her big throw, Ciccolini has thrown 171 and 169 feet at competitions. She likes the big stage and with a pair of big meets with districts and then states up next, look for the senior and University of Missouri signee to take some cracks at that national record. She told us she has some big goals for this season, and while she wouldn't tell us exactly what they are, we can assume it means capturing the national record. 185-8 is the number to beat, but Ciccolini could have something much bigger in the cards for the next few weeks.

Who To Watch For: Conrad Moore (State College Area)

Why?: There are frankly about five or six State College boys that are really worth watching for, but we'll go with Moore here, who posted a huge PR to win the high jump at Saturday's Mid-Penn Championships. That jettisoned the sophomore up to the state's top spot in the event with a 6-9. Before that breakthrough, Moore's previous PR stood at 6-4. He'll look to replicate that effort this week at districts and then states where he is suddenly a major contender for the top spot. 

What to expect: How Moore responds to his big PR is crucial. Can he carry that momentum into districts and states and keep pushing the bar to higher heights? That remains to be seen, but his 6-9 is a sign that the state's latest high jump star is on the rise. Moore's emergence adds yet another points weapon to State College's team title hopes. SC look to be the team favorites as we push towards the state meet and Moore adds depth to an already seriously deep team.
