Sophomores form the building blocks for teams. As they move through that tenth-grade year, they develop leadership characteristics and athletic abilities that will shape them into the leaders of tomorrow. The sophomore year provides the first look at the role an athlete will play in a program.

Next year, many of these athletes will be the top in the state, although there are already some recognizable names in the first few slots. Kamden Kramer (McDowell) shook the state when he ran a stellar 15:43 at his season opener in August. Since then, he won the McDowell Invitational and finished third in a loaded field at Red, White, and Blue. After his opening blitz, Kramer still sits as the PA #6, but we expect him to improve on that in due time. Kramer is currently ranked 37th nationally amongst sophomores.
