
Each year, freshmen are the biggest wild cards. A strong performer can put their team over the fence and make a good team, a great team.
These are the current top 500 Freshmen Boys, based on their times this season. They will be the stars of tomorrow, but it's helpful that we familiarize ourselves with them now.
Samuel Plazio of Kiski Area heads the list. He ran a 16:35 at Red, White and Blue this weekend, finishing as the top freshman in that field and in 12th place overall in the 2A race. He is currently Kiski Area's #1 runner.
Justin Landis (North Penn) ran a quick 16:39 at the Lansale Invitational to help his team to victory there. He finished fifth overall and was the third finisher on his team. North Penn figures to stack up in the race for a 3A title, so Landis' early involvement is vital. He added a 10:22 3200m this week at the Cherokee Challenge in NJ.
