I had mentioned it at the beginning of my build-up (that I was going to just run steady mileage and try to stay healthy) and it has worked.... my workouts are getting better and better and I've been feeling really good on my 15-mile long runs so whatever it is I'm doing, it's working…
...the reality of everything is that it is HARD to train alone!!! Two of my training partners are injured, the other ones I normally go with are on a different race schedule than I am so I've been doing A LOT of training on my own and I don't like it. Of course I like to go out on runs by myself, but I feel so much better when there is someone else around… So yeah, I guess these are the times I "miss" college days...
Okay, am a complete amateur! I went out WAY too fast… I got competitive…We started with the men so I kinda' went with the flow…It was really hot, I drank some water during the race (a couple times) and got cramps…Yeah…Then I bonked around 12km, I kept on going
April 2007 - Training Camp at Tenero (Josi is front & center)
In training camp, you can really focus on training because your whole day is truly based on training. So even though I do homework here, it is based around my running schedule, whereas when I'm at home, I feel like I base my schedule more around school and my job.
Things are coming together again so I'm just happy that I can run at a decent pace once again and that my workouts are rolling again! Man, that was a long SLUMP to get out of after December...
...the people!!! in general, are SOOOO competitive, I am always like "relax, people!"
The race went well, just killed myself on the hills. (And I won!)
Good workout today with Vivi. It was really nice to "roll" this workout with her. I was feeling my right hip again, which I always have had a problem with but has been improving with acupuncture and physical therapy.
Well the race WENT. I noticed as soon as I would dip under about 6 minute per mile pace, I started getting cramps from breathing because of my bronchitis.
I am happy with the results because I am in better shape than I thought I was in…The test showed that I have laid a good base and I can start building in the faster, longer workouts without being afraid my body won't be able to handle them…good to know!
Adelboden, where I visited by relatives in March.
...cross country champs wasn't really on my "A-list" this year. Bring on those roads, baby!!!!
We are in control of our "baggage," some of us just don't do anything about it: some just accept the baggage is there and let more and more baggage be loaded on…I've decided, that I'm a lot lighter on my feet without the baggage. Like today...
Okay, I know I am getting a little boring…So I'll be honest, I was struggling here for a while with the training routine. I was kind of lost and didn't really know what I was doing…But now I have new guidance and I am feeling really motivated again.
I have vacation, but not really. I had a bunch to do the last two weeks, but I am looking forward to being able to reload the old batteries again next week!
Yaaay, vacation for me…well from school! I will use this time wisely to train!!! I am PUMPED! We have nice weather over here too. Well, warm at least!
I didn't have many miles this week as I have finals and am stressed! I was stressing my body already with all of this studying so I don't want to overdo it.
I don't know why I haven't done any official ones yet… But the half marathon is on APRIL 22 AND I NEED TO GET MOOOVIN!
ll in all I am feeling pretty good on my continuous runs again, but am still feeling a little weak as far as my strength goes. (Nothing some hill workouts can\'t fix
Feel like I have been out of it for a while, which I have
December 2006 - the flu, parts one and two. But I\'m back and using all the patience I have to start again.
Welcome to Josi's journey... a Journal, (or Blog, if you prefer), of Josi's transition from collegiate athlete to pro. First up, cross country, and a whole new alignment to the seasons.
I am excited for it to be January to get a regular \"flow\" of a training week and working out again! School is pretty stressful at the moment, but I guess I like it! Hahaha! I am coming home for Christmas! Yaaay!
I guess everyone could tell how dead I was because I stopped talking and then like Ueli would try to talk to me and distract me from the pain and fatigue I was in!
Daytona Gym in Steffisburg just decided to sponsor me! I am puuumped.
They don\'t have the concept of a \"student-athlete\" here. In my program, you are only allowed to have two absences per class and then you get dropped from the class and a big fat \"incomplete.\" They are really strict about their attendance policy and don\'t really care if you are an athlete or not
Today is my first day at the University of Bern!!! I am excited
My legs were kind of tired today, but I am making sure I get at least one longer run in my weeks, as I find the long runs one of the most important runs of the week for a distance runner.
Anyone can motivate themselves to go and run in this weather, but the test will come daily in the Winter, which comes WAY too early here in Thun
