Track times aren't everything, but 3200m times tend to provide an indicator of strength when the cross country season arrives. Below you'll find the top 3200m times of the 2024 season (HS only), with graduating seniors out of the mix.
There are certainly some familiar names towards the top. Jack Bertram (North Allegheny) leads the list and he was third at the PIAA 3A State XC Championship last fall. Adam Kingston won the 3A District 3 Championship in 2023, and Jaxon Schoedel scooped up the state title in the 1A division.
Outside of the top 10 however, there are a few individuals who have caught our attention.
Tibor Barankay occupies the No. 14 spot. The rising senior finished 169th at the PIAA XC Championship in 2023 and his best time of the year was a 16:14.30 at the Carlisle invitational. But this year, Barankay's stock is soaring.
In late May, he posted a 15:02.29 5,000m on the track at the John Hay Distance Festival....
